Walsall Sandwell Dudley

Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council

The Council endeavours to make as many business opportunities available online in an effort to increase transparency, and participation from SMEs and the voluntary sector in the tendering process.

The council is also committed to sustainable procurement and all council contracts will consider the impact on the economy, society and environment during the award process. As such, contract performance is often linked to each of these sustainability areas.

Further information may be found here.

Most Council contracts are tendered via the Black Country Business website in an effort to raise awareness of contracts and streamline and simplify the tender process. The system is fully secure and auditable, also further reducing the costs and risks associated with hard-copy tenders.

Dudley MBC promotes the use of Purchase Cards and Lodge Cards across the Authority to enable the payment for goods and services to be conducted electronically.

Benefits to suppliers include:

  • Eliminating the need for paper invoices
  • Prompt Payment – within 4 working days
  • Improving Cash flow
  • Reducing banking costs for those using a lending/overdraft facility
  • Reducing administration costs
  • Improving business opportunities (especially with other Local Authorities)
  • Improving business relationships
  • Can lead to preferred Supplier Status

Useful documentation on Purchase Cards may be found on the Help page.

Future Procurement

Currently the council publishes details of all of its contracts online in its Forward Procurement Plan.

We are currently in the process of making the information available through the Black Country Business website (via the Current Contracts button on the left)

Both sources are an excellent starting point for businesses wanting to discover more about working with the council or with our contractors.
